Castle Museum, York

I went to the Castle Museum just before Christmas, for the first time since childhood. My memories of it mainly featured Kirkgate, the replica Victorian street, and the pungent sweet shop.

Kirkgate lived up to expectations, especially at Christmastime when there was a wishing tree and a man reading A Christmas Carol to a group of enamoured kids.

There was, however, much more that I didn’t remember, or that didn’t exist last time I went. Vintage swimwear, retro kitchens, toys and games… I was really impressed with the range and quality of stuff on display.

Here are some photos from the museum.
