Old Town

My friend Lewis visited at the weekend so I had the opportunity to be a tourist in my own city. Not difficult when I’ve only lived here for a couple of months and there’s still plenty more to explore…

On Sunday we went to Old Town, where there was a huge contrast between the touristy area around Yuyuan Gardens and some of the old alleys nearby.

There was a nunnery which was amazingly peaceful considering it was set back from a noisy street where people constantly approached us trying to sell knock-off designer watches, bags and iphones. We met a cat there and sat in the sunshine, wishing we had some tea.

Shortly afterwards we found an amazing takeaway tea place with the best chocolate milk tea I’ve tasted and some delicious blackberry concoction.

Here are some of the things we saw.
